LOCAL INFORMATION

Central Southern England

Hampshire has the beautiful New Forest; a great place to base yourself. Visit Winchester, famed for its beautiful cathedral and King Arthur's legendary round table.  The Solent waters around Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight are perfect for all things nautical. Portsmouth, the home of the British Navy, has a fine collection of museums, related to the Defence of the Realm and the British Navy.

Just across the water, over half the Isle of Wight is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The island currently has 13 award winning beaches; try Ventnor, a sun trap sheltered by high cliffs or Shanklin, which forms part of Sandown Bay, famous for its sandy beaches and safe bathing.

The Oxfordshire section of the Cotswolds has many picturesque towns and villages; and this is a great place to stay that’s close to Oxford, the Roman Fosse Way and even Stratford-upon-Avon or The River Thames.

The forest meets the sea around the quaint town of Lymington, and at nearby beaches like Milford-on-Sea you can sit and take in the view as a constant parade of sailing boats, small craft, surfers, elegant liners and gigantic tankers pass by on their way to the port of Southampton.
