The interior of Kent has the grandeur of Canterbury Cathedral and rolling downland; while the coast has vibrant resort towns like Margate, Ramsgate and Folkestone or the famous White Cliffs at Dover with their spectacular views across the channel. The pretty Isle of Sheppey is only nine miles by four miles and is reached via a bridge which sometimes has to be lifted while traffic waits and large boats pass beneath. Sheppey’s northern edge is lined with good beaches with stunning sea views towards Whitstable in one direction and the Essex coast in the other.
